| A Churn Dash quilt with blocks of late 19th century fabrics set against a background of cheddar. Found in Lancaster Co., PA, measures about 70 inches square and dates ca 1890.
|Individual blocks measure about 8 inches and are pieced from browns, indigos, grays and overdyed greens with contrasting light shirtings.|
|Quilted in grid, chevron and rope designs at about 7-8 stitches per inch. Thin batting.|
|A turkey red print is used for the applied binding.|
|The backing is a blue and white "homespun" check fabric.|
