| From the Lehigh Valley of PA, this ocean waves quilt dates from ca.1890's. In crisp, unused condition, it measures about 80 inches square.
Unusual in that the blocks are set square rather than on point, the quilt features "waves" blocks made up of two contrasting fabrics each, in a variety of colors around the quilt.
A cranberry print serves for the central blocks as well as for the four inch outer border. There's an inner 1 1/2 inch border of white dots on indigo.
Many other period prints are also represented, including madders, browns, cadet and indigo blues, chrome yellow, green, double pink and lots of contrasting shirting prints.
The backing fabric is an 1890's black and white print.
