| From the Lehigh Valley of PA, this Lemoyne star quilt dates from ca.1880. In crisp, unused condition, it measures about 78 inches square.
|In a firmament of overdyed green shine 8 pointed Lemoyne stars in double pink and chrome yellow.|
|An inner sawtooth border is constructed with the same fabrics as the stars.|
|Quilted in outline and in a 1 1/4 inch grid, at about 5 stitches per inch, with a medium batting.|
|The one spot we found is scarcely noticeable from a distance.|
|The outer edge of the quilt top is turned to the back, a warm brown print, and hand stitched to form the binding.|
