| From the Oley valley of Berks Co., PA, this strip stars quilt dates from ca.1890. In crisp, unused condition, it measures about 80 inches square.
|13 blocks of Lancaster blue measuring 11 1/2 inches each bear 8-point stars, each point pieced from strips of seven different calico fabrics. Alternating setting blocks of double pink.|
|The 4 inch inner border is a wonderful green "seaweed" print, the 6 inch claret outer border is turned to the back and hand stitched to form the binding. There is a slight fade in one corner of this outer border.|
|Quilted in cable designs in the borders, in outline in the stars and in a 1 1/2" grid over the remainder of the quilt at 5-6 stitches per inch. Very thin batting.|
|The backing fabric is a black and white patterned stripe print.|
