| From Berks County, Pa., this quilt is known as Martha Washington's Garden. Measures a large 98 x 77 inches and is dated 1937. In crisp, unused condition.
|The central field is composed completely of 1 1/2 inch hexagon pieces arranged in diamond shapes around yellow centers. The diamonds are separated by a row of hexagons in that 30's green.|
|A wide variety of 1930's prints and solids were used, including some novelty prints, florals and geometrics.|
|The quilting is done in zigzags along the outer edges of rows of hexagons, in zigzags and chevrons in the borders, at about seven stitches per inch.|
|A green outer border surrounds the inner border of sunny yellow.|
|The back is solid green, and there is an applied binding of slightly darker green.|
