| This PA Dutch baskets quilt measures about 77 inches square.
It features three rows of baskets facing the end, and one row facing each side. It dates from c.1890, and is in excellent condition.
|The top is pieced of period solid fabrics, the standard Pa Dutch palette of Turkey red, cheddar and green, with setting blocks of double pink calico.|
|It's quilted in double straight rows in the baskets, with a 1" grid in the setting blocks and chevrons in the border at 6-8 stitches per inch. The batting is thin.|
|The back of the quilt is white muslin. The dark green border fabric is turned to the back around the edges and hand stitched to form the binding.|
