| A circa 1870's calico Mennonite quilt from Lancaster County Pennsylvania, in the Sawtooth Center Diamond pattern. Measures about 80 inches square, in excellent, unused condition.
Using two contrasting fabrics, an overdyed green calico and a watermelon double pink, the quilter has created a bold graphic statement, traditional in the Amish and Mennonite communities.
Quilted with a cable pattern in the outer border, grids in the pink and a feather pattern in the inner green diamond in dark thread at about 6 stitches per inch.
While only two colors are used in the quilt top, the separate binding is applied with a different double pink print.
The backing fabric is a gorgeous late 19th century floral print on brown.
