| A "Trip Around the World" quilt from Lehigh Valley, PA. Measures an ample 90 inches square and dates from ca.1890. In crisp, unused condition.
Within a wide border of double pink are rows of 2 1/2 inch squares of a great variety of period calicos set on point.
The unusual color palette of this quilt includes browns, chrome yellow, wine and mourning prints, among others.
The quilting is done by the piece, and in chevrons in the border, at about 6 stitches per inch.
The back of the quilt is a great red and black print, echoing the squares on the top which have the same pattern in blue and black. The wide pink border fabric is turned to the back and hand stitched to bind the quilt.
